Monsoons to me mean oily skin, pimples, dry skin, patches too. It’s the time when I indulge in luxurious skincare and going green is something I’m doing right now as well. Recently, in my efforts to do both, I found this awesome, eco-friendly Skin Brightening Serum with lemon, papaya from a brand called Ilana Organics. They’ve even got other things like the Camellia face toner, green tea bath soaps, walnut-plum facial scrub. You know how our routines get complicated during such seasons, and we test out face cleansers, hair treatments, make up, etc. So, I encourage all beauty fanatics out there, and you too, to give Ilana Brightening Skin Serum Papaya Lemon a try. Hopefully, you’ll love it as much as I do, here are my thoughts on it.
Review of Ilana Brightening Skin Serum Papaya Lemon
What It’s About
The company says that this serum is a non-greasy, nutrient-rich potion that is supposed to help reduce dark spots, dark circles and all kinds of pigmentation. The actual serum contains a lot of Vitamin C from the lemon oils and topped with the other extracts, has made it one of Ilana’s best sellers. It also has some amount of papaya oil too that is known to have extracts like Carotenoids, Tocopherols – this is what makes the skin brighter and more even-toned.
Lemon, on the other hand, combats imperfections caused by sun damage, leading to pigmentation and dark spots. The serum is your answer to skin rejuvenation problems, acne reduction, and overall skin brightness.
Ingredients as listed on the box -Citrus limon (lemon), Carica papaya (papaya), Pelargonium graveolens (geranium), Tocopherol (Natural Vit E)
How To Use It
You can buy this online or on the Ilana Organics website for Rs. 790 for 15 ml. It comes in this brown-tinted small glass bottle with a dropper inside this blue and yellow box. This price might be a bit high for just 15 ml, but you just need to apply two to three drops twice daily. You have to continue using the products for three to four weeks.
My Experience- First Two Weeks
The actual serum has this light golden yellow colour that is thick and oily, and I used just two drops of it. I loved the smell that it has; I’m guessing it’s the papaya and lemon essential oils– I usually don’t like make-up or skincare products that have a strong scent, this was nice and refreshing.
So that is one good thing about this serum. The other thing I noticed is that the serum is very, very rich, so just a few drops should do for your neck and face. I had used about five drops and my face ended up very oily, even though the description says that its non-greasy. I used this as an overnight serum, and I had no regrets the next morning because my skin felt soft and moisturised.

So just be careful about how much of the serum you use at a time!! Within a week of using the serum regularly, I observed that most of the dryness was gone, my skin had this glow to it, looked fresh and healthy. The oil was of this formulation that didn’t clog pores, and even if it is on the oily side, it doesn’t feel sticky and you can use it during the day. I haven’t tested wearing it under makeup, so I won’t comment on that just yet.
The actual brightening effect took some time, so patience is important here people!!! But my skin did feel relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated and that was the best part. It was a very easy routine to follow, was quick – and I think this would be great for those who have long hours at the office.
Using it in the morning right after my shower, it awakened the skin and protected it from smoke, pollution, dust, air conditioning.
Last Two Weeks
My Advice
This serum can be used for treating skin that’s badly affected by environmental stress, strong air conditioning at the office, dry skin and especially pigmentation. It is very oily and would be better suited for normal to dry skin. The good part is that they have a tea tree clarifying serum for use on acne and oily skin.
